
Lebanon lacks a sufficient number of clinical toxicologists to manage or assist in managing poisoned patients. Additionally, Lebanon lacks comprehensive poison center services to assist the public and healthcare providers in assessing and managing toxicological exposures, In 2015, American University of Beirut and Emory University launched a project in clinical toxicology that includes collaboration in clinical consultation, education, and research. Currently, American University of Beirut has a full-time clinical toxicologist and 2 adjunct clinical toxicologists who lead the clinical toxicology service that has cared for more than 1000 patients. To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of this successful collaboration, American University of Beirut and Emory University Department of Emergency Medicine will launch the “First Annual Clinical Toxicology Update” Conference.
